Medical Image Analysis

Medical images have typical non-Euclidean, fractal structure – the fact that triggered the scientific community to apply the tools of fractal analysis for their description. As a research group, we have focused our scientific potential on application of fractal analysis in medicine, particularly in dermatology. The research is related with fractal and multifractal medical image analysis. Merging the traditional concepts, for image segmentation, feature detection, measuring image features with new mathematical concepts for estimation of fractal dimension on medical image, we like to achieve diagnostic interpretation of medical images, where the aim is detection of potential abnormalities. By analyzing the meaningful characteristics of an image, we aim to develop a mathematical tool / computer program which will manipulate with the medical data. Our opinion is that interchanging of our ideas will bring benefit to all of us.
